Casting Bones: Osteomancy​

Casting bones is a traditional form of divination in which bones, shells, stones, charms, and symbolic objects are thrown onto a surface and interpreted for guidance, spiritual insight, or messages about the past, present, and future. The practice is commonly known as osteomancy, a word derived from Greek roots meaning “divination by bones.” A bone-casting set can include many symbolic items chosen for personal or spiritual meaning. For example, a key may symbolize opportunity, a shell may represent protection, a coin may indicate finances or abundance, a feather may symbolize messages or travel, or a tooth may represent strength or survival.  Each reader often develops their own symbolic system over time.
