Assemble a Spell Jar
Spell jars are a powerful way to focus your intentions, energy, and spiritual practice into a physical form. Whether you are creating a jar for protection, love, abundance, healing, or personal empowerment, each ingredient is chosen with purpose and meaning. The process of assembling a spell jar is deeply personal and intuitive, allowing you to combine herbs, crystals, oils, symbols, and written intentions in a way that aligns with your energy and goals. There is no single “right” way to create one. The most important element is the intention you pour into it.
Below, you'll find the steps we use to assemble the jars we sell in our shop.
Step One
Cleanse your jar with smoke, sound, or moon water. If you use moon water, do not begin assembling until it is fully dry.
Step Two
Add your ingredients to your jar. We've found that spell jars work best when assembled in this order: salt(s), stone(s), flower(s), herb(s), tree(s), moss(es). However, you can assemble your jar in any way you wish! To make sure your ingredients don't move within the jar, pack them tightly (add plenty!).
Step Three
Once your jar is full, add the cork, turn the bottle upside down, and roll the cork on a hard surface to help pack it into place.
Step Four
If you have a charm and string you'd like to use, tie the charm and string around the bottle’s neck. Then add hot wax over the top of the bottle and allow it to drip down the sides, if you like that look. Be careful not to burn yourself and keep the wax away from surfaces and textures that might be ruined if hot wax touches it. Wait until the wax cools before moving your bottle, which should take less than a minute.
